The Library
Endowment, established by the Board of Directors, is a perpetual fund whose principal
is invested, and the interest earned from the Fund is available for the library to use
every year.
Support Your Library: Make a Gift to the
Foundation
The Foundation established
the Library Endowment Fund to help carry out its mission of providing long-term
support for the Alachua County Library District. The purpose of the Endowment
is to make available to the Library supplemental funding on an annual basis over and above
the traditional revenue from tax dollars. Fluctuating state and local revenues
increase the need for an endowment.
In addition to the traditional services offered by our libraries, the following are
examples of new and innovative services:
 | Helping adults
apply for jobs, start small businesses and file claims online through
E-government services.

| Offering developmental
materials for young children and their care givers in the Snuggle Up Centers at all branch
locations.
|
| Providing library
service in county areas distant from a branch library.
|
| Offering a wide range
of services for families in a high risk area of the city through The Library Partnership,
a neighborhood resource center.
|
| Providing up-to-date
computers and internet access and instruction in their use, especially to those unable to
use them elsewhere.
|
| Giving county inmates
the opportunity to improve their lives and re-enter society as productive citizens through
a jail library.
|
Through the services they provide
for individuals, families and the community, our libraries are helping to educate and to
transform the lives of many.

 Gifts to the Library Endowment Fund can
be in the form of cash, property, securities, trusts, in-kind
gifts,
gift annuities, wills & bequests and insurance
policies.*
A gift of $2,000 or
more to the Library Endowment Fund entitles the donor to a leaf on Katherine's Tree.
